Kantha is a running-stitch textile tradition from Bengal, practiced across West Bengal, India, and neighboring Bangladesh, where generations of women layered and stitched together worn saris and old cloth to make new quilts, wraps, and covers. Nothing was wasted—soft, sun-faded fabric was given another life through the needle, and the stitching itself often carried motifs and patterns particular to a household or region.
This necklace extends that same instinct for reuse one step further: offcuts of vintage Kantha cloth, already carrying their own history of wear and repair, are wrapped around individual wood beads rather than stitched flat. The result is a textile craft translated into jewelry form—every bead a small, irregular swatch of recycled fabric, so the necklace reads as a wearable record of the cloth it came from.
