Handmade Disclaimer: Each necklace is uniquely handcrafted; expect slight variations in colors and patterns.

design: A three-strand statement necklace made up of small round beads, each individually wrapped in scraps of recycled textile, interspersed with polished gemstone beads and finished with an amethyst cluster at the center front.

size: Adjustable to 22 inches with a 3-inch extender.

material: Wood beads (from furniture scrap) hand-wrapped in recycled fabric offcuts, natural gemstone beads (amethyst, tiger's eye, carnelian, onyx, and others), and an alloy clasp and extender chain.

features: Three-strand design, individually fabric-wrapped wood beads, mixed gemstone accents, adjustable length with 3-inch extender, made from reclaimed wood and textile scrap

care: Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth and store flat or hanging away from moisture, since the fabric-wrapped beads are not meant to be soaked or worn in water.

disclaimer: Each necklace is individually hand-wrapped from scrap fabric and stone, so bead colors, patterns, and gemstone placement will vary slightly from piece to piece.

The Story

Every bead on this necklace starts as scrap: an offcut of fabric, a sliver of leftover wood. Artisans cut small pieces of recycled cloth and wrap them tightly around wood beads salvaged from furniture-making, sealing each one by hand so the fabric holds its shape and color. Because no two scraps are identical, no two beads are either, which is why the finished necklace reads as a genuine one-of-a-kind piece rather than a repeated pattern.

This wrap-and-reuse approach draws on a broader, everyday resourcefulness found across Indian textile work, where offcuts, worn saris, and mill remnants are routinely given new life rather than discarded, from patched and layered quilts to strip-woven rugs. Here, that same instinct is applied at bead scale, turning what would otherwise be fabric waste into the visible, textured surface of the necklace.

The gemstone beads threaded throughout, including amethyst, tiger's eye, carnelian, and onyx, add weight, shine, and a cool, smooth contrast to the soft matte texture of the wrapped beads. Grouped loosely rather than pattern-matched, they echo the same one-off, use-what-you-have spirit as the fabric beads around them.

Women artisans in India make each necklace by hand, starting with sorting usable scraps of leftover textile and cutting them into small pieces sized to cover a single bead. Each piece of fabric is wrapped snugly around a wood bead and secured so the seam sits cleanly, a slow, repetitive process since a single necklace requires dozens of beads wrapped one at a time. Once enough beads are ready, they're strung across three cords along with the gemstone beads, knotted, and fitted with a clasp and extender so the finished necklace holds its adjustable length.

Craft & Materials
  • Made In: India
  • Craft Tradition: Hand-wrapped recycled textile beadwork
  • Ideal For: Anyone who wants a bold, colorful statement necklace with a story behind the materials
  • Wear It With: Let it be the focal point over a plain crew neck, V-neck, or solid-color dress, and skip other necklaces so the multicolor beadwork stays the star
  • Purpose: Everyday statement wear, dressing up a simple outfit, gifting
  • Gemstone: Amethyst, Tiger's Eye, Carnelian, Onyx
  • Metal: Alloy

Amethyst's violet tones, tiger's eye's warm banded shimmer, carnelian's deep orange-red, and onyx's solid black are each commonly worn simply for their color and polish, and here they're mixed rather than matched, so every necklace carries its own particular scatter of stones.

Questions & Answers

How long is the necklace, and is it adjustable?

It's adjustable up to 22 inches with a 3-inch extender chain, so you can wear it at a shorter or longer length.

What are the beads made from?

Most of the beads are wood, sourced from furniture scrap, and individually hand-wrapped in pieces of recycled textile. These are mixed with natural gemstone beads, including amethyst, tiger's eye, carnelian, and onyx.

Will my necklace look exactly like the photo?

Not exactly. Since each bead is wrapped from a unique scrap of fabric and the gemstones are mixed rather than pattern-matched, your necklace will have its own one-of-a-kind combination of colors and stones.

How should I care for it?

Keep it away from water and perfume, and wipe it down with a soft dry cloth after wearing, since the wrapped fabric beads aren't made to get wet.

Who makes this necklace?

It's handmade by women artisans in India through fair trade production, which provides them dignified, paid work using reclaimed wood and textile scrap.
