Ikat is a resist-dye technique practiced across several regions of India, in which bundles of yarn are tied and dyed to a pattern before they're ever put on the loom. When the dyed threads are woven, the color doesn't line up in a perfectly crisp edge — it blurs slightly at every boundary, giving handwoven ikat cloth its signature soft, feathered geometry.
This tunic borrows that visual language rather than the loom itself: it's a printed cotton, not a hand-dyed weave, but the zigzag chevron pattern is drawn directly from ikat's blurred-edge diamonds, rendered here in high-contrast black and white.
The repeating chevron is a familiar motif in Indian textile design, valued for its graphic, all-over rhythm — a pattern that reads as bold from a distance and intricate up close, equally at home on a tunic as on a length of yardage.
