Brass has long been a working metal in Indian jewelry making, prized for being affordable, workable by hand, and receptive to color and texture in ways that precious metals resist.
The graduated-disc silhouette and open, hand-linked chain reflect a construction method rather than a fixed motif: each ring is hammered and joined by hand, and each disc is shaped and textured before it goes to the patina bath. The result is a piece built link by link and disc by disc, not stamped or cast as a single unit.
The purple-and-blue patina itself is a chemical finishing technique long used by metalworkers to color brass and copper alloys, prized because no two surfaces oxidize identically. Here it turns a traditional forming technique into a distinctly modern, statement-making finish.
Each disc starts as a sheet of brass, cut to size and hand-forged with a hammer to bring texture and slight variation to its surface.
